Baby Monkey, Bought By The Grandfather The Grandfather bought a baby monkey named, Toto from a Tanga – driver at the Rs. five. It was bought to keep in the Zoo.
Description of Toto
Toto was pretty but mischievous. He had white teeth and relied hands. He tai served as his third hand.
Toto Kept In A Secret Place
Toto was kept in a secret place. It was a little closet that opened into the narrator’s bedroom. He was kepttied to a peg.
Mischievous Outs Of Toto Before Having Bath, Toto Tested Its Warmth First.
He used soap and warm water for his bath. He enjoyed his bath very much. During bath, if anyone looked at him, he would grin at him. Ones Toto Jumped into a kettle in which has been biliary. When the water was cold, he enjoyed it much but when it was warm he jumped up and down. In the meanwhile, ground mother reached and halved him out.
He had numerous things in his mind. He tore clothes to pieces. He broke plates and utensils. One day, Toto was eating rice on the dining table. When the Grandmother screamed, he threw plate at her. Toto also threw a glass of water at the face of the narrator’s aunt. Toto ran out with the dish of Grandmother when she screamed at him.
Ultimately, Toto Is Sold To His Original Owner
Toto caused much chaos in the family. He did much loss to the family, curtains, wall papers, utensils etc, were broken and torn. To beer such type of loss was really unmanageable to the family Ultimately the Grandfather sold Toto back to the Tanga – driver for only three rupees.
Toto With Other Pets
Toto was sent to servant’s quarters to stay with other pets. But he disturbed all and noted them sleep for the entire night. So, Grandfather put him in a bag and took him to saharanpur. When the ticket collector was checking ticket he thrust out his nose and also grinned at him. That is why the ticket collector put him into the category of dog and changed the ticket.

दादाजी द्वारा छोटे बंदर की खरीद 
दादाजी ने, तांगे वाले से टोटो नाम का एक बंदर 5 रू में खरीदा इसे चिड़िया घर में रखने के लिए खरीदा गया था।
टोटो का चित्रण
टोटो सुंदर किंतु शरारती था। उसके उजले दाँत और सूखे हुए हाथ थें। उसकी एक पूंछ भी थी जो उसके तीसरे हाथ का काम करती थी।
टोटो को एक गुप्त जगह पर रखा गया
टोटो को एक गुप्त जगह पर रखा गया। यह एक छोटी.सी अलमारी थी जो कथाकार के शयनकक्ष में खुलती थी। उसे एक खूंटे से बांद दिया गया था।
टोटो की शरारती हरकत
स्नान करने के पहले टोटो पानी की गरमाहट को आंकता था। वह नहाने के लिए साबुन और गरम पानी का उपयोग करता था । वह स्नान का बहुत आनंद लेता था। स्नान के समय अगर कोई उसे देखता तो वह उस पर खिजयाता था। एक बार टोटो एक केतली उसमें पानी उबल रहा था, उस पर कुद पड़ा। जब पानी ठंढा था तो यह इसका मजा लेता था, लेकिन जब यह गर्म होता था तो वह उछल कर ऊपर नीचे करता था। इसी बीच में, दारी माँ आ गई और उसे खींचकर बाहर कर दिया। उसके मन में अनेक विचार आते थे।
वह कपड़ों के चिथड़े कर देता था। वह प्लेटों और बर्तनों को तोड़ देता था। एक दिन, टोटो भोजन वाले टेबल पर चावल खा रहा था। जब दारी माँ चीखी तो उसने प्लेट उन पर फेंक दिया टोटो ने एक ग्लास पानी कथानकार की चाची के चेहरे पर फेंक दिया। टोटो अपने हाथ में पुलाव की प्लेट लेकर बाहर निकला उसके उस प्लेट को दादी माँ के ऊपर फेंक दिया, जब वह चिल्लाई।
अंतत
टोटो को उसके पुराने मालिक के पास बेच दिया गया। टोटो को काफी क्षति हुई। पर दो बार पेपर, बर्तन इत्यादि तोड़े और फाड़े गए। इतनी क्षति को सहना परिवार के वश की बात नहीं थी। अंततः दादाजी ने टोटो को टांगे वाले जो कि उनके पुराने मालिक थे, के पास तीन रू. में बेच दिया।
टोटो अन्य पालतू पशुओं के साथ
टोटो को अन्य पालतू जानवरों के साथ रहने के लिए नौकरों के घरों में भेज दिया। लेकिन उसने सभी को तंग किया और किसी को भी पूरी रात सोने नहीं दिया। इसलिए दादीजी ने उसे एक बैग में रख दिया और उसे लेकर सहारनपुर गए। जब टिकट निरीक्षक टिकट की जाँच कर रहा था तो उसने अपना नाक बन्दर की और दिखा दिया और उस पर दाँत खिजाने लगा। इसलिए निरीक्षक ने उसे कुत्तों की श्रेणी में रखा और उस पर जुर्माना किया।

Q.1. How does tooto come to Grandfather’s private zoo ?
Ans. Grant father buys Toto from a tanga driver. He just pays five rupees for that little red monkey. He thought that the little monkey was out of place there. That is why we brought it to his private Zoo.
Q.2.  “Toto was a pretty monkey” In what sense is Toto pretty?
Ans. Toto was really very pretty. He had bright eyes, White teeth, quick fingers and a fail which served as his third hand. But he was very mischievous and also believed in doing mischiefs.
Q.3. Why does Grandfather take Toto to Saharanpur and how? Why does the ticket collector insist on calling Toto a dog?
Ans. Grandfather did not tell Grandmother about the purchase to Toto. He hid this secret. So when he went to Saheranpur. He took Toto along with him. During journey he took the mischievous Toto in a bag. The ticket collector come to know about the monkey when it looked out of the bag. The ticket.

Ans. Toto takes a bath like a man. He tests the temperature of the water with his hand. He applies soap and bathes. HE has learnt this after seeing human beings bathing. Toto jumps in to a kettle. It has water for heating. The water begins to heat up. He tries to come out. He jumps up and down. Grandmother sees him. She saves him from being burnt alive:
Q.5. Why does the author say, “Toto was not the sort of pet we could keep for long?”
Ans. Toto creates onf problem after the other. He doesn’t let other animals in peace. He breaks plates after plates. He tears up clothes, curtains and wallpaper. The family is poor. So it can’t bear this loss. Therefore, Toto is sold back to the tonga-driver for only three rupes.
