Stanza-Wise Explanation of the Poem
1. The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree.
Explanation In this stanza, the poet remembers a small incident that changed his mood. Once, the poet was in a depressed mood and was hopeless. He was standing (It is not clear in the poem whether the poet was standing under or passing by a hemlock tree). Suddenly, a crow sitting on the tree shook it and some powdery snow from the tree fell on the poet.
व्याख्या इस पद्य में, कवि एक छोटी घटना को याद करता है जिसने उसकी मनोदशा को बदल दिया था। एक बार, कवि का मन बहुत उदास था और शाहीन था। वह एक धतूरे के वृक्ष के नीचे खड़ा था (कविता में यह स्पष्ट नहीं है कि कवि वृक्ष के नीचे खड़ा था या उसके पास से गुजर रहा था)। अचानक, वृक्ष पर बैठे एक कौए ने, उसे (वृक्ष को) हिलाया और वृक्ष से बर्फ के अत्यन्त छोटे कण कवि पर गिर गए।

Explanation The powdery snow which fell on the poet changed his mood to happiness. Earlier, he was depressed and sad but now he started feeling refreshed. This incident saved some part of the poet’s day which he would have spent in regret.
व्याख्या बर्फ के वे कण जो कवि पर गिरते हैं वे उसके उदास मन को प्रसन्नता में परिवर्तित कर देते हैं। पहले वह उदास एवं दुखी था। लेकिन अब वह तरोताजा महसूस करना शुरु करने लगा। इस घटना ने कवि के दिन का कुछ भाग बचा लिया जो वह पछतावे में गुजार देता।
Central Idea of the Poem
परीक्षा में Poetry भाग की किन्हीं भी तीन Poems के नाम दिए जाते हैं, जिनमें से किसी एक Poem का Central Idea लिखना होता है।
‘Dust of snow’ is a beautiful short poem written by Robert Frost. This poem expresses the significance of small things that can change one’s mood. The poet has mentioned crow and hemlock tree in this poem that are believed to be symbols of bad omen. The poet describes the dark, depressive and bitter side of nature to present his similar mood but when the crow shook the hemlock tree and snow particles fell on the poet, his mood changed suddenly. Through this poem, we get a message that we should hope for the best even in the worst of situations. We must also remember that nature and its objects have the ability to make one happy and come out of hopelessness.
‘Dust of Snow’ रॉबर्ट फ्रॉस्ट द्वारा लिखी गई एक सुन्दर छोटी कविता है। यह कविता किसी की मनोदशा को बदलने में छोटी चीजों के महत्त्व को दर्शाती है। कवि ने इस कविता में कौए एवं धतूरे (हेमलॉक) के वृक्ष का उल्लेख किया है, जो बुरे शगुन का प्रतीक माना जाता है । कवि स्वयं की मनोदशा को दर्शाने हेतु प्रकृति के अन्धकारमय, उदास एवं कटु पक्ष का वर्णन करता है, किन्तु जब कौआ धतूरे के वृक्ष को हिलाता है और बर्फ के छोटे कण कवि पर गिरते हैं, तो उसकी मनोदशा सहसा बदल जाती है। इस कविता के माध्यम से, हमें यह सन्देश प्राप्त होता है कि हमें अत्यन्त बुरी परिस्थितियों में भी सर्वश्रेष्ठ की आशा रखनी चाहिए। हमें यह भी स्मरण रखना चाहिए कि प्रकृति एवं उसकी वस्तुएँ किसी को खुश करने एवं निराशा से बाहर निकालने की क्षमता रखती हैं।
