I live in a crowded locality and from the top floor, the crowd presents the scene of ‘a human sea’ in the evening. People return from the offices and students are back from their schools. Some people come out to purchase vegetables, fruits and other domestic items. Young boys and girls dress in their best and go out shopping.
The biggest crowd is in the vegetable market. Some people move from stall to stall and bargain for each and every item. They are also very careful about short-weighing by the vendors and keep an eye on the weighing scales. The shopkeepers have sweet tongues and try to entice their customers through sweet talk. The confectioner’s shop is another place of attraction.
Little children guide their parents to the shop and force them to buy the sweets of their choice. Chat pakoris, gulab jamuns and jalebis are in great demand. The street hawkers peddle their wares very nicely.
The balloon sellers carry whole bunches of inflated balloons to attract small children. The toy-sellers set their stalls on the pavements. The newspaper vendors sell the evening newspapers in a very nice manner. They shout out the sensational news but keep the paper folded.
The cows and calves roam about the streets, eating everything and looking angrily at the bystanders. In short, every street has an interesting, life of its own and is enjoyed by the people who live there.

Importance of Trees
by XYZ
Trees are very important, valuable and necessary to our existence as they have furnished us with two important life essentials; food and oxygen. Apart from basically keeping us alive, there are many other benefits we get from trees.
Trees intake carbon dioxide from air and breathe out fresh oxygen for our life support. This cycle is made by nature to sustain other living beings. Trees also contribute to a rich healthy ecosystem. Animals, insects, birds and fungi make their home in the trees and make a diverse ecosystem. This balanced environment, in turn, contributes to the betterment of human beings. Trees also receive the rainwater and hold them in the land. This prevents clean water from flowing and getting wasted in drains. The root system of the trees is so well made by nature that it holds the soil underground from getting washed away during rain and floods thus, preventing landslides and soil erosion.
Trees have a lot of importance in our lives, and they provide a seamless service to the environment. We have somehow not protected them enough and perhaps that is why today we are being affected by global warming, severe pollution and other negative effects of deforestation. Thus, every effort must be made to conserve the trees; to preserve our environment and help live a sustainable life.

The river Betwa flows nearby. The temple of Lord Shiva stands on a small hill near the river. The temple was built by Raja Bhoj. The structure is built with finely cut rocks kept one over the other.
