कविता का भावार्थ
Stanza 1
‘Never shall………..your yellow hair.’
कोई भी नवयुवक तुम्हारे कानों के किनारे सुनहरे बालों को देखकर निराश नहीं हो सकता। यदि वह तुम्हें तुम्हारे सुनहरे पीले बालों के कारण नहीं वरन् तुम्हें तुम्हारे लिए प्यार करे ।
Stanza 2
‘But I can get ……….. my yellow hair.’
किन्तु मैं बालों का रंग ला सकती हूँ और उन्हें भूरा, काला व गाजरी रंग सकती हूँ ताकि निराश नवयुवक मुझे केवल मेरे लिए ही प्रेम करें न कि मेरे सुनहरे बालों के कारण।

‘I heard an…………. your yellow hair.’
मैंने एक वृद्ध धार्मिक व्यक्ति को पिछली रात घोषणा करते सुना कि उसे एक ग्रन्थ मिला है जो यह सिद्ध करता है कि केवल ईश्वर ही तुम्हें केवल तुम्हारे लिए प्रेम कर सकता है, न कि तुम्हारे सुनहरे बालों के लिए।
SUMMARY OF THE POEM
The poet is in love for Anne. But Anne thinks her lover is in great despair because of her yellow hair. These are visible on the back of her ear. She thinks that he will not mind her hair but love her alone. She is ready to dye them brown, black or carrot for his sake, so that he may love her alone and not her yellow hair.
She heard a holy man yesterday night with a declaration. It is from her lover. It states that only God could love her alone. There the yellow hair had got no meaning. So to attain supreme bliss, we must love God.
