SUMMARY OF THE POEM
When the sky is covered with dark clouds and it starts raining, the poet likes to listen to the patter of the soft rain on the roof of his cottage. It gives him a bliss. When he hears the sounds of the rain, thousands of memories come to his mind. The poet remembers his mother. It is the single major memory that comes to his mind. He feels his mother looking at him affectionately.

जब पूरे आकाश में बादल छाये हुए हों, और गहरा उदास अन्धकार वर्षा के रूप में आँसू बहाकर धीरे-धीरे रोता हो, कुटिया के कमरे में लगे बिस्तर के तकिए को सिर से दबाना, और लेटे हुए अपने सिर के ऊपर छत पर कोमल वर्षा की पड़पड़ाट सुनना कितना परम आनंद देता है !
Stanza II. Every tinkle………….the roof.
छत पर लगी लकड़ी की आयताकार टाइलों पर वर्षा की बूंदों की टप-टप की आवाज हृदय में सुनाई देती है। जैसे ही मैं छत पर वर्षा की टप-टप सुनता हूँ मस्तिष्क में हजारों स्वप्निल कल्पनाएँ शुरू हो जाती हैं और हजारों स्मृतियाँ वायुरूपी धागों से ताना-बाना बुनती हैं।
Stanza III. Now in memory……..rain.
अब मुझे मेरी माँ की याद आती है, जैसे विगत वर्षों में वह मेरे प्रिय सपनों में आया करती थी और उषाकाल से पूर्व मुझे छोड़कर चली जाती थी। जैसे मैं वर्षा की आवाज जो छत की टाइलों पर वर्षा की टपटपाहट से उत्पन्न होती है, सुनता हूँ, मुझे अनुभव होता है कि मेरी माँ अपनी स्नेहमयी दृष्टि से मुझे देख रही है।
